The ‘Elle’ is a high end office to residential conversion project located in downtown Washington DC. The office building is being converted into 167 residential units with 10,000 SF of retail on the ground floor. The overall design required creativity. The Elle will be one of the first office to residential conversions in the ‘downtown triangle’ of Washington DC.
The office building will be reduced to the existing concrete slab floors and structural columns. The configuration was designed to capture the most efficiency and provide air and light to each of the units. The main façade will be high end concrete panels and in combination with metal panels. The design and confutation of the panels starts out dense with more concrete panels and as they move upward becomes more light (metal panels). The overall playful design has a strong ‘base’ and as it moves upward the building become lighter, this is again emphasized with a change in the metal panels and they become perforated on the top floor.
The New 2 level penthouses will boast with a lap pool and lounge deck on top and include a co-working area with ample outdoor space including a small dog walk area on the penthouse level. The other amenities include inside lounges and bar area on the Penthouse level.
