Encouraging creative thinking
The fourth floor of the Florestano Building at Anne Arundel Community College was transformed into a state-of-the-art Learning Innovation Center known as the LInC, which helps students and staff think differently about how to innovate in their studies and teaching. The Departments of Instructional Design and Educational Technologies are housed on this floor and use the Innovation Classroom and Synchronous Teaching Lab as premiere instructional education environments.
Collaboration and discovery
The Idea Lab “sandbox” is the focal point of the design, and includes a variety of technologies and presentation options, flexible seating, huddle rooms, gathering space, coffee bar, and collaboration zones. The focus on flexibility promotes a sense of discovery and experimentation with new teaching pedagogies and learning dichotomies. The LInC is planned to evolve with the needs of its users over time.
