Continuing a multi-phased master plan
Two additions – a Student Center and a Children’s Wing – expanded the Bay Area Community Church and Chapel that we had designed over 10 years earlier. The student and children’s ministries each had specific themes that we incorporated into the additions while respecting the character of the original building.

Expressing ministry themes

Embracing a “warehouse” concept adopted by the student ministry, the Student Center addition creates a new, inviting first impression approaching the building from the east and provides engaging and relational spaces for youth.
The Children’s Wing on the west side of the building adds needed classroom space and a special 4th/5th Grade room arranged to serve two functions: large group worship utilizing the stage, video, and lighting, and small group time where children sit at restaurant-style booths with a leader for discussion and crafts. Fitting in with the children’s ministry’s “underwater” theme, the room was designed to resemble the inside of a submarine.
