Supporting a dynamic football program

This project updates the 1997 Frank H. Kenan Football Center, which serves the operational needs of the Carolina Football Program and houses the locker rooms, weight room, equipment room, players’ lounge, study areas, player meeting rooms, and coaches’ offices. The renovation updated the players’ lounge and converted a training area to staff locker rooms. The addition provides three hydrotherapy pools and a training facility with staff offices. The second level includes an outdoor patio for team recreation, with a grill, group seating, and a half basketball court. The design of the addition’s facades is sympathetic to the campus context of athletic and non-athletic buildings and follows UNC’s campus design guidelines.
