This award-winning welcome center, designed for the Maryland State Highway Administration, is located on westbound Interstate 70. Its facades incorporate a gentle blend on local stone and wood indigenous to Western Maryland. Natural landscape features integrated within the site and internal exhibits telling a regional story further establish the project’s sense of place. Sustainable features include a geothermal system, radiant floors, high-performance lighting, and locally procured products.
