Mendenhall Station, located along Commerce Street is a transportation center designed to reduce vehicular congestion and promote a more pedestrian-friendly environment for the International Home Furnishings Market in downtown High Point. The design includes a 50,000-SF steel space-frame canopy system with a laminated glass roof, and four bus traffic lanes, each with nine bus loading bay areas.
Creative lighting gives the canopy a glowing quality at night and provides additional illumination at ground level. A new kiosk provides timely updates and transportation information to Market visitors. The facility is wired with the latest in data technology to allow for future connectivity and flexibility, and also features special sound and electrical components to accommodate special outdoor events and performances.
