The CBC parking deck provides 510 spaces for students, faculty, and researchers on the emerging Centennial Biomedical Campus, the home of NC State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. With expansion in mind, the deck was designed to provide pedestrian circulation paths to future buildings in the north-south direction, accommodate expansion to the west, and allow the main access drive to be extended to Blue Ridge Road, thereby becoming the main gateway into the CBC campus.
Reflecting the modern architectural style of the campus, brick, metal panels, and precast concrete bands were integrated to form dynamic pedestrian and vehicular entry towers at the deck’s main entrances. The primary structure is composed of precast concrete. Several sustainable features were incorporated into the design, including LED lighting, bio-retention ponds, and drought-tolerant landscaping.
