Offering a dual purpose “third place”
Redemption Community Church renovated the coffee house as a “third place,” a place where people gather for social interaction and community fellowship outside of home (“first place”) and work (“second place”). Ragamuffins adds to the local economy during the week, serving specialty coffee beverages and food, and promoting literature, while functioning as a place for worship and community activities on weekends and evenings.
Expanding the bar toward the view
The renovation included a new storefront and canopy system on the front façade to create a more welcoming entrance. The interiors have an industrial, eclectic, “vintage-modern” character through the use of salvaged brick supplemented by stainless steel, glass, rustic factory light fixtures, and refinished wood floors. Fresh furniture, fabrics, and colors provide a comfortable place for coffee lovers and meet-up groups.
