Rutgers Hillel is located on College Avenue, the original “main street” for the town of New Brunswick, New Jersey and the main pedestrian corridor for Rutgers University. The Jewish Student Center was designed to respect the existing streetscape, while presenting an exciting and “open” image to attract students. The interiors create a warm and welcoming environment where students feel at home.

The two-story building is organized along a central “spine”, with an atrium connecting the two floors and includes: a café with indoor and outdoor dining; a variety of lounges and multi-purpose spaces to accommodate speakers, performances, student activities, and a full-array of Jewish prayer services; a Beit Midrash and a library; a 400-seat dining room, with a full-service kosher commercial kitchen; offices and workspaces for staff and students; and outdoor terraces and decks equipped with trellises to facilitate the erection of a sukkah.
