Seton Brilla Charter School

The new 7-story red masonry veneer school faces the elevated rail line along Jerome Avenue in the East Tremont neighborhood of the Bronx. Seton Brilla charter will serve 800 students in Grades K-8 and features separate ground floor entrances for elementary and middle schools. Student dining is located on the ground floor and a double-height gymnatorium is on the 7th floor immediately below a semi-enclosed outdoor 4,000-SF play roof. The plan is organized around an L-shaped corridor, which maximizes light and air to general and specialized classrooms.

There was extensive and meticulous coordination to achieve the school’s acoustical requirements, reconciling noise coming from the elevated rail and the specialized programs on the interior.
