Tennis training and tournaments

The WFU Tennis Complex was planned and designed with the goal of creating a first-class athletic training facility as well as a host site for tournaments. The project transformed a 440-car parking lot into a park-like, fully utilized site. The inaugural Winston-Salem Open professional tennis tournament was held here in 2011, bringing more than 30,000 visitors to the area.

The facility features 12 courts (four sets of three) and a championship court. The complex is sited adjacent to WFU’s football stadium in order to utilize the stadium’s existing restroom facilities during the football offseason. Phase 2 of this project added three sets of three-tiered seating areas overlooking the northernmost tennis courts. Phase 3, the Harold Pollard Center, includes a courtside club experience with indoor event space and covered and tiered seating overlooking the championship court.
