Karen Nichols

FAIA

Principal, Design Practice Leader

Joining Michael Graves in 1977, Karen led the firm to become the inter-disciplinary practice that we enjoy today. Her expertise in front-end planning, programming, and strategic thinking often puts her at the forefront of project development, particularly in cultural, civic, and workplace contexts. She has worked with several museums over multiple decades. Karen often serves as the firm’s spokesperson through monographs, articles, lectures, and exhibits. Ask her some Michael Graves trivia, and she will likely give you the answer! When not at work, you’ll find her in the kitchen or the garden. Or at an art gallery.
