Markus has a deep appreciation for the many “moments of discovery” in architecture, whether in listening to a client express their dreams, finding the potential in an existing space, or seeing the entire team’s vision embodied in the creation of meaningful places. Reflecting on the Knoxville studio’s culture, he notes the joy in working in a collaborative environment and the empowerment of talented team members. His strength in thoughtful problem solving is reflected in his work and experienced by others as he practices decisively in a deliberate tone of kindness and respect. Markus currently serves on the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority Board of Commissioners. He is proud to practice in his native state, home of the Tennessee Volunteers, and loves any activity that takes him outdoors. Time spent on the water with his family ranks the highest!
