An office building conversion
Kingdom Fellowship AME acquired a multi-building commercial property with the intention of converting one building into its primary ministry center and, in a second phase, converting a second building into a community center and housing. Structural and spatial limitations in the existing five-story office building instead led to the design of an addition that created a 1600-seat worship auditorium.

A new identity for the building

The addition provided an opportunity to develop a new identity for the complex that was more suited to the church’s vision and personality. The unique design of the entrance derives from the name of the church “Kingdom.” The Bible says that “the Kingdom of heaven is like a treasure found in a field” (Matthew 13:44). This imagery is expressed by a new faceted jewel-like entry to the building, using a geometric structural glazing system that has a dynamic presence and invites visitors to come in a discover the Kingdom of God within a dynamic, people-centered environment.
